Diamond America Completes Remanufactured OEM Hopper and Gearcase

Diamond America offers remanufacturing services for extruders of all makes. Improvements to the design and engineering are made as needed to increase functionality and performance. One such project was recently completed as Diamond America remanufactured an OEM Hopper and Gearcase for an extrusion equipment customer. 

Several improvements were made, including tightening up the tolerances on the bores to prevent material stagnation and increase throughputs. Diamond America neutral thrust feeders were added to encourage material movement to the center of the hopper allowing positive feed while also decreasing wear on bearing components. We also added our two-piece shaft system between the hopper and the gearbox to promote ease of disassembly and maintenance. The OEM gearbox was redesigned by replacing bronze bushings with needle bushings that will increase efficiency and longevity of the motor.

Beyond extrusion we offer rebuild of wear parts in the granulating/compaction/pelletizing industries. Our experience in metallurgy, combined with our extensive manufacturing capability, allows us to produce components of superior quality and increased durability. In addition, Diamond America offers rebuild services for sheet, cast film, blown film, laminating and coating dies as well as screws and barrels of all makes.

Diamond America Introduces Swing Bolt Configuration

Diamond America Corporation will introduce the swing bolt configuration, its latest extruder design feature, at ChemShow 2013, December 10-12 in New York City. The swing bolt allows Diamond America’s Table Top Extruders to be easily cleaned and maintained. The unit can be quickly disassembled, the screw and barrel purged and cleaned, and the die replaced within minutes. As a result, the machine’s downtime is greatly reduced and productivity is increased.

Diamond America’s Table Top Extruders (TT Series) are suited for research, testing, quality control, and production applications, and the swing bolt configuration makes them ideal for laboratory use when testing different materials or profiles. The TT Series features a modular design and all units are available with mobile cart to provide you with ultimate flexibility.

Diamond America offers both standard 1” and 2” Table Top Extruders and custom designed and built extruders for special applications such as high temperature or corrosive polymer processing. The TT Series is currently used by manufacturers to test a wide range of products and as a teaching tool in research labs in many Universities and Colleges. “We bought the TT100 extruder manufactured by Diamond America in order to produce the extruded pellets of molecular sieves including aluminosilicates and titanosilicates in our lab … the equipment has been working well on the forming of inorganic materials,” stated Lan Wu, Technician, University of Alberta.

Diamond America Corporation Announce Promotion of Terry Hendershot to President

Diamond America Corporation, a leader in extrusion equipment design and manufacture, today announced that Terry Hendershot, vice president of sales and operations, has been promoted to president effective immediately. Hendershot joined Diamond America Corporation in 2011.
